The politics of space created and maintained ghetto conditions throughout deindustrialized American cities. As the ‘architecture of good intentions’ has been co-opted by defective socio-political systems, this talk examines the unexpected role of design in preserving dysfunctional spaces in the poor, segregated, drug and violence-ridden inner-city of Baltimore.
